Closer monitoring on our storm overflows

Our storm overflows at Tankerton Circus and Diamond Road in Kent now have the most advanced reporting available to help us better understand our sewers and provide the most accurate and near real-time storm overflow information.

These storm overflows in Kent are some of the first overflows to be fitted with twin radar sensor heads, the most accurate reporting technology available. These new radar sensors have replaced the previous ultrasonic ones, which sometimes gave false readings in storm overflows particularly when the water was foamy. The new radar sensors are also more durable, so they’ll last a lot longer and provide better value for money.

This improved storm overflow monitoring will allow us to gain a clearer picture of what's happening under our feet and make sure we have most accurate and near real-time storm overflow reporting for our customers.
