LeakBot Trial

We're looking at innovative ways to tackle leaks and save water within the home with our LeakBot trial.

background

Protecting our water supplies

The South East of England is a water-stressed area and we all need to do our bit to protect water supplies.

When leaks occur, precious clean water is wasted, so we're committed to reducing water loss by trialling innovative ways to find and fix more leaks.

We want to help make it easy for our customers to find and fix leaks in their own homes too, which could also help to cut water bills. As part of our commitment to reduce leakage, we’ve been trialling a new smart leak detection device with a small number of customers.

Introducing LeakBot – a smart water leak detection system

LeakBot will alert you to any leaks in your home - which could be hidden away from view, wasting water and potentially causing damage to your property. It’ll also tell you when taps have been left running.

It’s easy to set up – clipping nicely onto the pipe near your stop tap. It monitors your incoming water pipes 24/7, sending alerts to your smartphone if it spots a leak. The device can detect even the smallest of leaks.

Our latest LeakBot trial

We’re inviting a limited number of our customers to take part in our LeakBot trial where they will receive a free LeakBot device for 12-months.

This is to see if the device can help reduce water loss through leaks in their homes, and resolve issues quicker if they are unsure whether they have a leak.

During the trial so far, we’ve seen:

  • 42% of people received a leak alert, most relating to issues with loft storage tanks.
  • More than 4,000 litres of water being lost through faulty pipes and appliances every day across these 700 households alone.
  • One home was losing 720 litres of water a day – equal to 4,800 cups of tea.

FAQ's

LeakBot uses a patented Thermi-Q technology which works to accurately measure both the air and water temperatures in the home. A leak will continually draw colder water from outside, creating a consistent drop in temperature. LeakBot can sense the prolonged and consistent drop in temperature and sends an alert to the customer's app.

Alerts are sent when LeakBot detects a leak as small as one teaspoon per minute. The customer can then book a plumber visit through the app to find and fix the leak, all free of charge during the trial.

We’re running this limited trial as part of our commitment to reducing leakage and help customers to use and waste less water in their homes. We’re testing whether this device can successfully reduce leaks in the home and help save water.

We’re currently inviting a limited number of customers to trial a LeakBot. If the trial is successful, we will explore offering the service to a wider number of customers.

The LeakBot trial will not affect your bills or impact your water supply in any way.
