Win £1000 for your school

Our Water Protectors module for primary schools is helping pupils understand the importance of saving water, and now there’s a competition for schools too, with a £1,000 cash prize.

New water protectors competition

Get your local school involved!

Are you a Water Protector – or do you know one? Our Water Protectors Competition is open to schools in Kent, Hampshire, Sussex and the Isle of Wight. We’re challenging schools to keep track of their water saving over a one-week period. Then they can send in a photo of a water-saving display in their classroom for a chance to win exciting prizes.

There are water bottles and a sticker pack for the whole class to be won, and a cash prize too. Four winners will be chosen from schools across the region.

Learning about saving water is all part of the Water Protectors module in our New Wave educational resources. These curriculum-linked resources are made available free to schools to download, providing assemblies and lessons engaging pupils to become Water Protectors – finding out where their water comes from and the importance of saving water, and Water Detectives – tracking the lost water droplet through the water cycle. The materials also take them on a virtual journey down the drain in Wastewater Quest.

Kim Twine, Education Officer at Southern Water said:

“Getting young people engaged now with how to save water will make sure we have enough water for the future, and protect the wonderful natural world and wildlife around us - plus it’s fun too!”

To take part in the competition, we’re asking schools to have the photos of their water saving displays submitted by email to newwave@nationalschoolspartnership.com by the closing date of 22 November 2024.
