Our teams will be working in Newport Road (B3327) Ventnor on the Isle of Wight to replace a damaged sewer
Our teams will be working in Newport Road (B3327) Ventnor on the Isle of Wight to replace a damaged sewer.
The works will require Newport Road in Ventnor also known locally as “The Graben” to be closed for two weeks from Monday, June 24, with a scheduled finish of 8 July.
We’re sorry for any disruption and inconvenience caused in Ventnor and the wider area – but for safety reasons it is essential that this work is carried out.
We’re working closely with Isle of Wight Council and Island Roads to minimise disruption for residents, businesses and commuters.
Isle of Wight customer manager, Adam Wilds, said:
“We know how disruptive works like these are, especially during the busy summer season. We have been working closely with Isle of Wight Council to make sure we minimise the impact of these works and ensure they are well planned out.”
What will the works do?
We have seen signs that the damaged sewer is causing a sinkhole to develop, which is why it is so important we address this now to prevent future issues.
Is there a diversion in place?
Due to Leeson Road currently being closed, a significant diversion route will be in place. You will enter Ventnor through Whitwell via a one-way system. To exit Ventnor, you’ll need to drive via Chale. Please see the map included below.
How long will the works take place?
The works will start on Monday 24 June and are expected to last around two weeks, if all goes to plan we expect the works to be finished by 8 July.
