We’re celebrating the first anniversary of our Partnership with charity Kidney Care UK.

Last year we launched a new partnership with Kidney Care UK to help people living with chronic kidney disease in the Thanet, Crawley, Hastings, and Isle of Wight areas to help those affected join our existing Priority Services Register (PSR).

Did you know that 3.25 million people in the UK are battling with the later stages of chronic kidney disease? And more than 152,000 of those individuals are right here in the South East.

By working closely with Kidney Care UK, we can better understand the challenges customers and patients with kidney disease are facing, as well as raise awareness of the additional support available.

Our progress so far

Since its launch in April 2023, we’ve seen a 150% increase in the number customers on dialysis joining our PSR.

We’re proud to have introduced an incident process for customers receiving dialysis, using the Kidney Care UK social media and renal unit network, to highlight the extra support available and make sure that they receive emergency water supplies when we’re carrying out repairs.

Kidney Care UK have also delivered in person training to our employees to help improve awareness of the challenges that dialysis patients face.

“The training was incredibly interesting I hadn’t realised how many people suffer from kidney disease and how it affects people until now” Stu Bailey, Vulnerability Support Office – Hampshire.

Supported by Kidney Care UK, our teams have been able to visit renal units around the region, offering both advice about financial support available and helping them sign up to our PSR. It’s a chance for our teams to see first-hand the impact kidney disease can have on our customers’ lives.

Nicky Chitty, Customer Operations Lead said, “Our work with Kidney Care UK has proved invaluable over the last year, and this is a great opportunity to highlight just some of the excellent work the partnership has achieved. There is so much more we are currently doing, and can still achieve, working in collaboration to support patients and customers impacted by chronic kidney disease.”
