Marking World Toilet Day at National Poo Museum

Primary schools across the South East have been invited to a special webinar event to mark World Toilet Day – with a live broadcast from the National Poo Museum. 

Our Education Team will be at the unique Isle of Wight attraction on Tuesday 19 November for the event, where students aged 7 to 11 will learn about the history of the toilet and what happens after we flush.  

As part of the interactive experience, teachers and students can use a chat function to enter comments and answer quiz questions. 

Kim Twine, Education Officer at Southern Water, said: “Our live webinar is free for primary schools to join. Students will be able to learn about why it is important to have a day to celebrate the toilet. What better place to learn about the history of the toilet, than the National Poo Museum.”

“Part of the webinar will focus on sewer blockages and what not to put down the toilet. People can prevent sewer blockages flushing only the three Ps – pee, poo and paper. For everything else - Bag it and Bin it.” 

World Toilet Day has been an annual United Nations Observance since 2013, marking the importance of good sanitation around the world and raising awareness of those without.
