Introduction to Infiltration Reduction Plans (IRPs)
There are several areas across our region with high levels of groundwater, especially after periods of heavy rain. This becomes problematic, seeping into our sewer network and overloading the system, which increases the risk of flooding.
Our Infiltration Reduction Plans show what we're doing to reduce flooding due to groundwater infiltration and the work we’ve already done. These plans offer an update on last year’s groundwater situation in the areas most affected and the actions taken to prevent infiltration.
We review these plans each year in line with the requirements of the Environmental Agency.
