Open data

Our Annual Performance Report and its data are published under an open data licence and soon more of our data will be shared in this way. Learn more about our open data strategy.

background

What is open data?

Data published under an open data licence allows anyone to freely access, use or share it. The sharing of information as open data has many benefits. It fosters innovation, improves transparency, and encourages collaboration.

Annual Performance Report

Our Annual Performance Report (APR) and its data are published under an open data licence. Our APR data is now available in two formats, an Excel file (.xls) and a .csv file, allowing the data to be analysed. We’ve joined other water and wastewater companies, in making sure all .csv files are in the same format, so it’s easier for users to compare data across the industry. Together, we’ve collated our data for internal industry comparison and are working with Water UK to understand the benefits of making our combined data available to the public.

Our commitment to open data

We’re committed to being open and honest and will soon be adopting a company-wide and an industry-wide open data strategy. This will see more of our data published under an open data licence, improvements to our storm overflow reporting service – the Rivers and Seas Watch - and a new drinking water quality dataset, available on the Stream open data website. Stream is a water sector initiative bringing together data across the industry, to help improve the sector.
